About the Folks

Rodney and Cindy Davis feel very blessed to call Manna Fields Farm home. For them, Manna Fields Farm is a culmination of big dreams, rich history, and lots of prayers. The Davis’ have been life long residents of Brazoria County and from the time their 3 children were tots, they knew they wanted to raise their family on a farm. With that dream, much prayer and faith went in to finding the right place to call home.

It was then that they discovered the old Jamison house was for sale. Steeped in rich, colorful history, the Jamison home is over 100 years old and has been a big part of the legacy of Brazoria County ranching and farming. It didn’t take too long before the Davis family took up residency in the old, white, two-story house, nestled among ponds and pastures, and overlooked by the tall silver windmill.

Renovations on the house began, and at the same time Rodney’s younger brother Markel Davis joined in the family vision for the land. Rodney and Markel began fencing the land and bought their first cows. Though they didn’t have enough money to become big cattlemen, they planted Jiggs Bermuda hay and started raising it for their cows. The hay venture proved successful as there was plenty for the animals and plenty to sell to other farmers. The hay has even been awarded first place prizes over the years. As time went by, goats, rabbits, chickens, and a few horses were added to the farm. The young Davis children thrived in the country and began raising animals to show in the local county Fair. Rodney spent long afternoons in the hay field and Cindy spent long hours turning the Jamison House into their home. The Davis family began making a little history of their own.

Hospitality is second nature to all the Davis family members. They have a knack for making friends feel right at home and over the years a steady stream of visitors have passed through their front screen door. It was during these times that Cindy noticed how children loved the farm animals, and could play for hours in the fields and barn, especially children from the city. They seemed to have a natural interest in how things worked on a farm. A new dream was beginning to stir.

Manna Fields Farm is the result of that dream. The Davis’ are very excited to be able to open their farm to the public and share their knowledge and love of farming with others. Their desire is for families and folks to come on over, learn about life on the farm, relax and have fun, and make a few special memories at their place.
