Closed for the Summer

by Cindy on July 15, 2010

I often get calls through out the summer from friendly folks looking for something fun to do during theses long hot days of summer time. It pains me to have to say “Sorry we are closed for summer”, but honestly folks, it is just to hot here on the farm. So allow me to explain what we do behind closed gates.

  • It takes time to mow down the sunflowers and get the ground ready for planting a corn maze.
  • We paint and repaint signs for the fall.
  • We mow the grass, and that is a never ending job. Once we finish one side of the farm the other needs to be mowed again.
  • Speaking of mowing, we cut our hay during the summer for our cows, Hay Mountain and a couple of fields for our neighbors.
  • We plan our field trips educational activities, which include lesson plans, props and practice sessions.
  • We plan our marketing and promotional strategies.
  • We design and build an awesome haunted house and corn maze for Fearshire Farms.

Wow, I could go on but looking at this list reminds me I better get busy.
We want this fall to be our best yet and we are looking forward to seeing old friends and making new ones!
